Credits scale with two factors: race length and difficulty bonus. Long circuit races pay the most per hour, and cranking the difficulty multiplier amplifies those payouts.
Raise Your Difficulty Bonus
Open the pause menu, go to Settings, and adjust each option below. The game shows your combined bonus percentage updating in real time. Increasing AI difficulty and disabling assists can add well over 100% to your base payout.

The game stacks each of these into one combined multiplier shown on screen. Exact per-setting percentages vary by patch, so trust the in-game number rather than memorizing fixed values.
If Unbeatable AI makes you lose races, drop to Highly Skilled or Expert. A first-place finish on Expert pays more than a fifth-place finish on Unbeatable. Find the highest difficulty where you finish on the podium consistently.
Run Long Races
Short sprints pay less than extended circuits. Focus on these race types for the best credits-per-hour ratio:
- The Colossus — a marathon highway race that loops around the map, lasting roughly 11 to 15 minutes per lap and paying some of the highest rewards in the game. It returns from previous Horizon titles and is the easiest of the long endgame events to access.
- Goliath-style events once unlocked (these circle the full map and pay among the highest base rewards in the game).
- Custom EventLab races with extended lap counts. Check the Trending and Highest Rated tabs in EventLab for community-made farming tracks.
For these long races, use an S2-class hypercar with a high speed rating (the Koenigsegg Jesko is a popular pick) to complete laps as fast as possible.
2. Farm Skill Points and Spend Them on Wheelspins
Skill points are your secondary currency for generating credits. You earn them by chaining stunts during free roam and races, then cash them out through Car Mastery trees.
Best Car for Skill Farming
The 1998 Subaru Impreza 22B-STI Version is the standout skill-farming car at launch. Its Car Mastery tree unlocks a 9x skill multiplier, and it costs about 86,000 CR from the Autoshow. Its mastery tree also includes a Super Wheelspin reward, making it valuable for both skill farming and credit generation.
Note that skill chains cap at 10 skill points per run, so once you hit the cap, reset and repeat rather than chasing a longer chain.
The EventLab Farming Loop
- Open EventLab from the Creative Hub.
- Search for blueprints tagged as skill point farms. Sort by Highest Rated or Trending to find ones the community has tested.
- Select the Subaru 22B-STI Version as your car.
- Run the event. Most farming blueprints let you hit the 10-skill-point cap in roughly 20 to 30 seconds.
- At the results screen, select Retry/Restart to restart without reloading the menu.
- Repeat until you stockpile a large batch of skill points per session.
The Rinse-and-Repeat Wheelspin Method
Many cheap cars in the Autoshow have Super Wheelspin or Wheelspin perks buried in their mastery trees. The loop works like this:
- Buy a cheap car with a Wheelspin or Super Wheelspin mastery perk.
- Spend skill points to unlock that perk.
- Spin the Wheelspin from the pause menu.
- Sell or remove the car.
- Repeat with the next cheap car.
Super Wheelspins award three prizes at once. Even with unlucky rolls, the credit and car payouts from a batch of Super Wheelspins typically outweigh the combined Autoshow cost of the cars you bought. Note that Wheelspins are handed out less frequently in Forza Horizon 6 than in Forza Horizon 5, so Car Mastery is a key way to generate them on demand.
Clear Clothing From the Wheelspin Pool
Wheelspins can land on clothing items, which pay nothing. You can remove them from the reward pool by buying all available clothing at the Horizon Festival customization shop. Once you own every clothing item, those slots get replaced by credits and cars in future spins.
3. Buy the Right Player Houses
Forza Horizon 6 has eight player houses scattered across the Japan map. Each one provides a permanent perk that stacks with the others. The first house is free, two more are available early, and the rest unlock as you earn Stamps through the Discover Japan career progression. Unlocking a house lets you buy it; you still pay credits for most of them.

Exact credit prices for the Stamp-gated houses (Hakusan Mountain Lodge, Fuji Unkai House, Soko 78, Vision House) vary by source and should be confirmed against the in-game purchase screen. The free, early, and headline prices above (Mei's, Yashiki, Minka, Tokyo) are the reliably documented ones.
Priority order: Claim Mei's House for free at the start, then grab Yashiki House (cheap, unlocks Estate building for skill farming). Buy Tokyo House as soon as you can afford it if you play daily — the daily Wheelspin pays for itself over time, and VIP/Premium Edition owners get it free. After that, stack credit-boosting houses (Minka, Hakusan Mountain Lodge, Fuji Unkai) that match the events you play most.
4. Use the Auction House
The Auction House is where serious credit income happens. Two strategies work: selling duplicates and flipping rare cars.
Sell Your Duplicates
Wheelspins, Festival Playlist rewards, and race prizes dump cars into your garage. Check your collection regularly and sell anything you own twice. Open the Auction House, list the car at the maximum buyout price the game allows, and wait for a buyer.
Flip Festival Playlist Cars
Festival Playlist rewards rotate weekly (every Thursday). A car that appears as a seasonal reward floods the Auction House during that week, dropping its price. Buy extra copies while prices are low. Wait a few weeks after the event ends. Once supply dries up, relist at a higher buyout. Rare cars can appreciate significantly within a month.
Auction House Tips
- Use Advanced Search filters to sort by make, model, or price range.
- Buy well below a car's maximum buyout to guarantee profit after auction fees.
- Watch for clusters of auctions ending in "1 minute" on the same car. High activity signals demand.
- Avoid bidding wars. If the price exceeds your target threshold, move to the next listing.
5. Earn Passive Credits
Explore the Map and Complete the Collection Journal
Simply driving around earns credits, XP, fast-travel unlocks, and Wheelspin progression at the same time. Discovering roads, visiting landmarks, smashing XP boards, and collecting mascots (each mascot pays a flat credit reward, and there are many spread across Horizon's Japan) all feed your Collection Journal, which unlocks further credit and Wheelspin rewards. This is the best early-game source of income before you set up the advanced farms.
Upload Liveries and Tunes
Other players download your custom liveries and tunes from the shared content browser. Each download and "use" generates a small credit payment. Popular designs (especially ones based on real-world racing liveries, anime wraps, or competitive tunes for meta cars) can pull in credits over time without you touching the game.
Complete the Festival Playlist Weekly
The Festival Playlist resets every Thursday. Completing its events earns seasonal points. Hit the reward thresholds to receive bonus cars, Wheelspins, Super Wheelspins, and Backstage Passes. The cars earned here often sell for high prices on the Auction House because of limited availability.
Log In Daily
After purchasing the Tokyo House (or receiving it through VIP), log in every day to claim your free Wheelspin. A few minutes of daily logins across a month adds up to dozens of Wheelspins you would have missed otherwise.
6. The AFK Farming Method (Advanced)
If you want credits while away from the controller, AFK farming uses the Auto Drive feature in Rivals mode to race indefinitely. This is the highest-earning credit method in the game right now.
Rivals AFK Setup
- Open the pause menu, go to Online > Horizon Rivals > Road Racing.
- Select a long circuit race such as The Colossus.
- Press Y to change your rival. Select the #1 player on the leaderboard. This forces the race to loop because you can never beat the top ghost time.
- Set your difficulty bonus to maximum (see Section 1).
- Start the race. Press Down on the D-pad to enable Auto Drive (Anna will then drive for you). Confirm Auto Drive is active before stepping away.
- Use a stable, well-tuned road-racing car with good grip. Auto Drive needs consistency more than raw power, and a car that spins on corners will break the loop. A Forza Edition car with a Credits Boost perk increases payouts further (see the FAQ).
- When you're done, open the pause menu and select Quit Event to claim all accumulated credits in Free Roam. Do not force-close the game, or you risk losing the payout.
Prevent Idle Shutdown
- Xbox: Plug your controller in via USB. Go to Settings > General > Power Options and set the console to avoid auto-sleep during gameplay.
- PC: Disable screen saver and sleep mode in your OS power settings.
You may see a notification that your lap was flagged for using Auto Drive. This only affects leaderboard validity, not your credit earnings.
Risk note: Playground Games has patched AFK farming methods in previous Horizon games. This method works at launch, but a future update may disable Auto Drive in Rivals or cap idle credit earnings. After any update, test one lap before leaving it running.
What to Spend Credits On
Knowing where to spend matters as much as earning. Early in the game, avoid impulse-buying from the Autoshow. Use the cars you win from Wheelspins and Playlist rewards. Spend credits on:
- Player houses with credit-boosting perks (see Section 3).
- Auction House flips to reinvest profits.
- Meta cars needed for Festival Playlist challenges (you earn more by completing the Playlist than you spend on the required car).

Do Forza Edition cars still exist?
Yes. Forza Edition cars with built-in Credits Boost perks appear in Forza Horizon 6. Two confirmed options are the 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Forza Edition (available through the VIP Membership) and the 2020 Wuling Sunshine S Forza Edition (earned via Wheelspin). The Tacoma is one of the most popular cars for the AFK Colossus credit farm because of its Credits Boost, acceleration, and top speed. Forza Edition cars cannot be bought from the standard Autoshow.
Will AFK farming get patched?
Playground Games patched similar methods in Forza Horizon 4 and Forza Horizon 5. AFK farming works at launch, but expect adjustments in future updates. The other methods in this guide (difficulty bonus, Wheelspin farming, Auction House) have survived across multiple Horizon titles.
Is buying credits from third-party sites safe?
